Our Patron
Vidia Roopchand
Fondly known as Bobin, our Patron, Vidia Roopchand is a Husband, Father of 3 children and a Research Scientist.

As an alumnus of Anna Regina Multilateral School (ARMS), where he resided in the dorm, Vidia graduated in 1984 as joint Best Graduating student. He recalled his days at ARMS with fondness and credit those days to changing his outlook on life.
​
Vidia had a very early interest in Chemistry and, following his secondary school education, he obtained a BSc in Chemistry at the University of Guyana. He continued his studies in the USA, where he attended Columbia University and New York Medical College and now hold Master degrees in Chemical Engineering and Immunology.
​
He currently works as a Principal Research Scientist, at the top American firm, Pfizer, where he was instrumental in developing one of the Covid-19 vaccines. His work with Pfizer spans 28 years, during which time he contributing to other vaccine development and was part of the “Kick Polio out of Africa” movement initiated by the late great South African president, Mr Nelson Mandela. His efforts have contributed to the reduction of polio and pneumococcal disease around the world. Vidia is also a mentor to new Pfizer’s Viral Vaccines researchers.

With such a demanding career, we are in awe that Vidia still find time to tend to his garden, do some reading, attends concerts and go to the gym.

In agreeing to be the Patron of Claudette Caesar Foundation, Vidia has signalled that he believes in and is supportive of this worthy cause. As an Ambassador for the foundation, Vidia will help to raise awareness and contribute in any other way towards achieving the foundation’s goals.
